208 N Harbor Blvd
Fullerton, CA 92832

This is a place that was introduced to me by my wonderful co-worker. She said she has been going to this place for 20+ years, so I knew I had to check it out. It was located in the heart of downtown Fullerton, with great parking right behind it (it's located between Amerige and Wilshire on Harbor Blvd.). We walked in to a very fun and inviting decor and a great host who seated us. We walked to a fun table with pillows as seat cushions! It was great :)
The host (his name was Jeff, I believe) was wonderful! We told him we were there for the first time. We asked him for recommendations and instead what we got was his ordering dinner for us. He was so wonderful and concerned about what we would like to eat. He ordered a bunch of different things of the menu, giving us a great overall taste for their restaurant. I don't remember any of the names of the sushi that we tried, but there was this one hand roll you must have if you're there; It was rolled in lettuce! It was so great and having it wrapped in lettuce gave it a new dimension. Everything was so wonderfully delectable there! We had a roll with raw salmon on top and I'm not big on raw fish, but this salmon literally melted in my mouth! All the rolls were great and had some wonderful sauces to go with them.
You really have to make your way out to this restaurant. This has become one of those restaurants that we are going to become regulars at. The people are wonderful and so is the food. I can't wait to go back!

Felix Continental Cafe
36 Plz Sq
Orange, CA 92866
Phone: (714) 633-5842
(Orange circle - Old Town Orange)
When we used to think of Felix the only thing that came to mind was Felix the Cat, but after going to this restaurant every time we hear Felix we think "mmmmm Cuban food..." This place is set up in a quaint little place in Orange, where you get the feel of Orange way back in the day. It's just a small little hole-in-the-wall restaurant and half of the restaurant is set up outside, which gives it a romantic ambiance as you sit in the dark with the candles flickering.
The food comes in huge portions and is really satisfying. No matter what you try everything is really tasty. I love having this great fish with Habenero sauce. The way all the tastes mix together is fantastic; everything just works so well together. The best part about this restaurant is that your dinner entree comes with dessert! Now, how many places can you say that dessert is included with dinner? The services is good and the food is incredible. Pretty much anything you try is amazing and if you don't like the management is nice enough to work with you about getting you something that you like.

Cafe Java Bru
4560 Beach Blvd Ste C
Buena Park, CA 90621 (714) 670-1571
This is a very special cafe for me. This is a place where me and a very special friend of mine go to get away from the world and enjoy some kick-ass shaved ice. I mentioned this dessert at Guppy's, but this place exceeds the shaved ice at Guppy's. This is located in a place where you wouldn't even think twice about stopping because it's secretly located in the Shell plaza.
This place has THE BEST shaved ice in all the OC! They have this amazing concoction of shaved ice with fresh fruit and a secret ingredient. It comes with watermelon, strawberries, kiwi's, pears, mangoes, and boba. Then they top it off with condensed milk, soft serve ice cream, and their secret pink syrup (which makes it better than any other shaved ice in all of OC).
If you like shaved ice then I have to insist that you have to go here! Your shaved ice experience will not be complete without visiting this place. They don't serve any food here, it's just a place for boba, slushes, smoothies, and shaved ice stuff. I mean it doesn't look like much from the outside, but the shaved ice makes it all worthwhile!

The Boiling Crab
(Multiple Locations)
We go to:
13892 Brookhurst St.
Garden Grove, CA 92843
714-636-4885
http://www.theboilingcrab.com/
This is the place where you go and get your hands messy. This is not your typical restaurant and it is definitely not for you if you are a clean freak! When they seat you (which by the way the service is decent), instead of putting plates in front of you they cover your table with construction paper and put a bib around your neck...see where this is headed yet?
Basically the way this restaurant works is that you order seafood by the pound and it comes boiled in your choice of spices in a bag. You then peel your seafood and throw the shells and everything else on the table. If you go, you better go prepared...things come with eyes, antenna, and everything in between still on them. You can get shrimp, crawfish, (Blue, Canadian, swimming, king) crab, and oysters. Everything is tasty, it all depends on the spices you get for your seafood. We like to get all of the spices mixed together. It can get really spicy, especially if you decide to have their cajun fries. Those are freakin' awesome!
May we suggest that you order corn-on-the-cob with your seafood. They will boil it in the same spices and bag as your chosen seafood. and FYI if you order 2 pounds or more you can get free corn-on-th-cob and sausage with the package. By the way, we like things spicy, so when we decided to order their spiciest hot wings because we thought we were such big hot shots, we walked out of that restaurant with our lips on fire and tears streaking down our faces, so just a heads up ;)
If you decide to order the crawfish, do not be fooled by their size! Those things are a lot of work to open, with only a little bit of meat inside. There is a special way to eat crawfish by the way if you want to get the most from your crawfish. Here are a few basic steps:
1. Rip off the head of the crawfish
2. Break the body of the crawfish in half (where the legs are)
3. Take out the meat
4. Enjoy!
If that didn't help, hopefully this tutorial will:
http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-eat-crawfish
Side note: When you order the crab, they give you salt in a small container. You are supposed to put lemon juice in there and use it as a dipping sauce for your crab meat.

Bobby D's

If you were to drive by this place, you wouldn't think twice about going inside. It's in some average looking plaza next to a Blockbuster. If however, you decided to take the chance and go inside you would be in for one hell of a treat! We like Mexican food, but this thing exceeds all our expectations. This is one of the best tasting Mexican food places that we have ever been to.
The atmosphere is like a hole in the wall sort of place. It's basically a fast food joint. You have your basic table and chairs and a small tv in the corner. The nice thing though is that the staff is really friendly and that's probably why they have so many regulars.
Now let's get down to the real deal - the food! They make fresh salsa, which is really tasty and if you dine in they provide you with an unlimited amount of warm tortilla chips. You can get entrees (entrees come with rice and beans) or you can get the items a la carte. I like to order the enchilada plate, whereas the hubby likes to order the wet burrito. All their food comes in huge portions, so you will definitely go home full or with leftovers. The enchilada plate comes with rice, beans, salad, and 2 huge enchiladas. These are some yummy enchilada's! I'm not a big eater, but I never let these enchilada's go to waste. The enchilada's come with ample amount of sauce and they are fully covered with this great tasting enchilada sauce. They are really scrumptious and juicy. The burrito on the other hand is this massive thing that comes packed with rice, beans, salsa, veggies, cheese, and tons of meat. Most items come wet or dry (i.e. you can get a dry burrito or a wet one - wet one meaning that the its extra suacey). Their rice and beans (not refried, but I'd double check if that's an issue for you) is great as well. Their Mexican rice is made with a great mixture of spices and goes great with the guacamole, sour cream and beans. Ohhhh, the taco's are great too! I think what makes this place so good is the their blend of spices. Their meat is always juicy and never dry, so no matter what you get it'll be great. If you like the vegetarian stuff, their Chile relleno is great as well. What makes it great is the fact that they add green chiles to the cheese, so it gives a good mix of spices as well. So, no matter what you will definitely be satisfied.

Just writing the name of the restaurant is making our mouths water. This is one of those restaurants that you treat yourself to for something special. Anniversaries, birthday's, getting into your dream school, etc. I was introduced to this restaurant by a coworker when I was attending UC-Irvine. I walked in and the first thing that popped into my head was "geez - here we go with all the howty-towty people". I mean hello!! there was valet outside for godsake! The restaurant had beautiful decor and warm ambiance. So, I go to open the menu and it's one of those menu's where there's aren't even any cents written. In small writing all you see is 29, 35, 38, market price, etc. At this point I was already nervous because I was thinking what I got my self into. I didn't want to spend 40 dollars on lunch.
My friend told me to order the Hawaiian Ribeye Steak and I like my steak well-done (because I don't like a bloody steak). So this steak arrives and it came with 2 sides (yummy vegies and mashed potatoes), I go to cut the steak and I put the first bite into my mouth......MY GOODNESS!! It was like a little piece of heaven in my mouth. It was the most amazing and tender steak I have ever had in my life. It was so succulent and flavorful. I never finish a whole dinner, however I did not leave any piece of that steak on the plate. I was hooked after this visit to the place. Now I make every excuse to go back there. Me and the hubby went back for my birthday one time (again I had the Hawaiian Ribeye) the hubby ordered a cheeseburger and mind you, this was no ordinary cheeseburger. The burger patty was tender, flavorful, succulent and was accented beautifully with their yummy, yummy shoestring fries. We also started the meal off with their chilli, which was also served nice and hot. Basically, anything that we say about Houston's is not enough. This is one of those restaurants that is just such a yummy place to treat yourself and a loved one.
The service is also so wonderful at this place (and you would hope so right? after paying 40 bucks for lunch). I remember, when the hubby took me for my birthday, they were nice enough to come out with a candle in my dessert.

Zankou Chicken (Budget)
Multiple Locations
http://www.zankouchicken.com/
(We go to the one on Ball rd., Anaheim, CA)
Craving great shawerma? This place is a middle eastern fast food restaurant. As far as the restaurant itself goes it's a very simple restaurant. You have your basic yellow booths and bolted down tables; nothing out of the ordinary.
However, when it comes to the food, you will become a regular. Their shawerma sandwiches are so wonderful. That one is my personal favorite. It has the perfect amount of onions and this wonderful garlic sauce. This is the best tasting shawerma sandwich that I have ever had. My husband on the other hand likes to eat the shawerma plate. This comes with a hefty amount of shawerma meat, lettuce, hummus, onions and tomatoes. Their hummus is really tasty as well. It has this wonderful texture to it and it tastes great by itself or on a sandwich. You know, we've noticed that a lot of places have falafel, but they tend to be too dry or just don't have the taste. However, Zankou's falafel sandwich is really tasty. We swear it has to do with that amazing garlic sauce. They just started serving kabob plates, however we haven't had a chance to eat one of those, so if you try it let us know if we should go try it. This restaurant is another one that we go to regularly. The only problem for us is that they close early (10 p.m.) This is definitely a restaurant to go try, you'll be hooked!
